Monday Michigan football injury report: David Moosman doubtful, Mike Williams should play against Eastern Michigan

By Dave Birkett

Starting right guard David Moosman suffered a shoulder injury in last week's upset of Notre Dame and may not be available Saturday against Eastern Michigan, Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez said at his press conference Monday.

Perry Dorrestein replaced Moosman against the Irish, with Mark Huyge sliding to Moosman's guard spot and Dorrestein playing Huyge's right tackle position. But Rodriguez said he's toying with several options on how to shuffle his offensive line this week.

John Ferrara is listed as Moosman's backup, but Elliott Mealer or Ricky Barnum also can play guard, or Dorrestein or Patrick Omameh can start at right tackle with Huyge sliding over to guard.

"We’ve played a lot of those guys in camp at different positions and we'll work that the next few days and see what’s best," Rodriguez said.

While Moosman may miss "one or two weeks," Rodriguez said safety Mike Williams is fine after missing the fourth quarter against Notre Dame with cramps.

Receiver Junior Hemingway could return for the EMU game as well after sitting out last week with an ankle injury.

Michigan will release its official injury report on Thursday, a practice Rodriguez encouraged the Big Ten to adopt at its spring meetings.

"I didn’t stand on the table and pound my fist or anything, I just thought it was a good idea and most of my colleagues did at the same time," Rodriguez said. "Why it didn’t go as a policy in the league, I don’t know. But you can adopt it as an individual policy."
