National champion Michigan gymnastics team visits White House

Michigan Senator Carl Levin and U.S. Congressmen John Dingell, D-Dearborn, pose with members of the national champion Michigan gymnastics team Monday at The White House. The team, along with more than 600 other NCAA championship athletes, met with President Barack Obama on the South Lawn.

The University of Michigan men's gymnastics team and other NCAA championship squads were honored at the White House Monday in a reception with President Barack Obama.

The trip continues today with a tour of the Capitol Building, the Washington Mall and other Washington, D.C. landmarks.

The Michigan gymnasts were one of 33 NCAA championship teams invited, according to a release from the Office of the Press Secretary. The traditional reception was started by President George W. Bush.
