Yahoo! sports is reporting that 2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush is expected to be stripped of the award by the end of the month. The former Southern Cal running back would become the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have the Heisman Trophy taken away. The report also says the award would be left vacant for '05. (AP Photo/Julie Jacobson, File)
Dick Weiss of the New York Daily News feels the "Heisman Trust has no choice but to strip Reggie Bush of award if it hopes to remain prestige", and the New York Times' William C. Rhoden wrote, "If Bush had any sense of honor, he would return the trophy and save the committee the embarrassment of having to ask for it."
Meanwhile, on the West Coast, Bill Plaschke of the Los Angeles Times wonders, "Why not run the most important route of his life -- the high road -- by behaving as sturdily as that trophy, covering it in bubble wrap and sending it back to New York?"
