New York Giants learn they can count on Mario Manningham

Former Michigan receiver Mario Manningham is breaking out as an elite player with the New York Giants this season because of his off-season work and good family roots, The New York Times reports today. Former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr is quoted in the article, which you can read here.

It's great to see things have worked out well for Mario. He's an immensely talented player. But, it was unclear for a while whether or not he was going to be one of those people who threw away a great opportunity by less-than smart off-the-field problems. He was in Lloyd Carr's doghouse several times. I'll never forget his game-winning catch against Penn State in the end zone right below our seats! What a classic moment in Michigan football history. I wish him continued luck with the Giants.
