Twenty-four hours after trudging through quicksand, the Chelsea High School boys basketball team found its footing Wednesday night.

The host Bulldogs ran the floor effectively all night and pulled away from Pinckney in the fourth quarter of a 72-61 win at the Chelsea Holiday Basketball Tournament.

The quicksand reference was used by Chelsea coach Robin Raymond after his team's 47-36 loss to Northville on Tuesday. Wednesday's game -- when the Bulldogs doubled that offensive output -- couldn't have been more different.

"We're a better team when we go," Raymond said. "When we push the ball, we have some kids that can penetrate and some kids that can shoot. And it's easier to do both of those things at a quick pace."

Bulldog junior point guard Patrick Roberts did both exceedingly well, scoring a career-high 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting and doling out seven assists. (Rest of the story & photo gallery | Boxscore)

It was the first time either team led the back-and-forth affair by more than five points. (Story & photo gallery | Boxscore)

Northville 49, Milan 39: The Big Reds eventually found their offense, but never could climb all the way back from slow start. Northville, meanwhile, suddenly found its range from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs, who made 1 of 5 free throws through three quarters, were 13 of 16 in the fourth.
