The Detroit Red Wings, competing with the Calgary Flames for one of the final Western Conference playoff spots, lost 4-2 at home to the Flames on Tuesday, MLive.com reports.

Detroit now is ninth in the West, one point behind Calgary. Both teams have 16 regular-season games to play.

“The team that wants the puck most wins most nights,” Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. “The team that works the hardest wins most nights. When you look at the whole 60 minutes, the team that worked the hardest won. Obviously, they had more energy and more drive in the third period than we did.”
