Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader will fly with Blue Angels out of Willow Run

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader's dream to fly with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will come true Wednesday when he rides with them out of Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti.

Abdelkader will fly for about 45 minutes Wednesday morning, the Grand Rapids Press reports.

From the Grand Rapids Press:

He will accompany Blue Angel 7, Lt. David Tickle, whom the Red Wings said will "demonstrate the skill, power and grace of the F/A-18 Hornet while performing dives, rolls and reaching speeds approaching Mach 1." "Once I get to the airport, I might start getting some nerves," Abdelkader said. "I was told the trick is breathing right, controlling your breaths. The g-force on your body will be pretty heavy."

I sure hope Lt. Tickle is a Red Wings fan.
