The next event on the busy Ann Arbor running calendar is the Firecracker 5K, a July 4 race that takes participants through downtown Ann Arbor and the Diag on University of Michigan campus. Last year's race had 785 finishers. Online registration and more event details can be found on the race website.
BASKETBALL
Skyline Camp
Coach Mike Lovelace and members of Skyline High School basketball program will host summer basketball camps for boys and girls looking to improve fundamentals and have fun. The middle school camp runs from June 27-30 and the elementary camp runs from July 18-22. Click here for more information.
Pioneer Basketball School
Pioneer boys basketball coach Rex Stanczak, his staff and Pioneer players will become teachers at the Pioneer Basketball School. The camp runs July 25-28. It focuses on shooting technique, ball handling, passing and man-to-man defense. After a lunch break each day, there will be 5-on-5 games. For more information, visit www.aareced.com.
All-Skills Basketball Camp
Drills, Skills and Offense Basketball is hosting a camp at One-on-One Athletic Club from June 20-24 to help children who aren’t yet in high school improve their skills. There will also be tournament games and a slam dunk contest the final day of the camp. The cost is $150 per child and a T-shirt and lunch are included. Sandy Sanders Camp
The Sandy Sanders camp, in its 35th year, runs June 20-24 at Greenhills School and focuses on skill development and application through drills, scrimmages and guest speakers. The Rich Maloney Michigan Summer Baseball Camps are back. Hosted all summer at the Wilpon Complex, there are camps for players at every skill level. Campers will receive hands-on instruction from Michigan baseball coach Rich Maloney and his staff. More information is available on MGoBlue.com.

River Rat Combo Camp
During the third annual Huron High Combo Camp, varsity coaches and players will share their knowledge of volleyball and basketball with younger players in a fun learning environment. Speed, Power, & Agility Camp
The University of Michigan Health System Sports Medicine Program is hosting the Speed, Power & Agility Camp at Father Gabriel Richard High School for all incoming high school and middle school athletes. Special Needs Team
Wolverine All Star Gym is now forming its special needs cheer team. There will be a parent and athlete meeting at the Wolverine All Star Gym at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 18. Last year was the team’s first year, it was a wonderful experience for everyone involved. Last year’s team attended competitions and cheered alongside Michigan cheerleaders at a basketball game. Wolverine All Star Camp summer camps are taking registrations. Attendees will learn balance, coordination and agility through the sport of cheerleading.
