The rematch is set.
Web-savvy athletic directors Dave Brandon (Michigan) and Mark Hollis (Michigan State) appear to have worked out the date for their second head-to-head golf match via Twitter.
Brandon and his five-person Wolverines team will be looking to even the score on Tuesday, July 24 at a to-be-announced course in the Ann Arbor area.
On July 25, 2011, Hollis’ Spartans won the first B1G AD Golf Challenge when former MSU golfer Ryan Brehm hit a 20-foot birdie putt on the first sudden death playoff hole at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath.
The match was born when Brandon and Hollis exchanged jabs about each others’ golf games via Twitter during the 2011 Big Ten spring meetings. There was plenty of light-hearted trash talk leading up to (and during) the event, too.
Afterward, the ADs took a different tone.
Hollis: “This doesn’t happen with people that don’t like each other. Hopefully we can keep this going for years to come.”
Brandon: "We compete nose-to-nose in a lot of sports, but we also work together really well and that’s the way it should be."
