Ryder Cup hype under way; Tigers lose doubleheader and more links

By Jim Knight

The U.S. Ryder Cup team has five rookies, and The Boston Globe notes that one of them is likely to be in a key position to provide the deciding point on Sunday.

“These guys are aggressive, positive, and they are going to come out firing,’’ said Pavin, who went 1-2 in his Ryder Cup debut in 1991. “I just want to make sure that they are emotionally under control.’’

There is already plenty of coverage of the Ryder Cup:

The matches begin Friday in Wales, and the Daily Mirror in London mocked the war-like vibe the U.S. team gives off.

The BBC says Lee Westwood is healthy and ready to lead the European team. Sports Illustrated's Rick Reilly plays 25 questions to look at this year's matchup.

Europe's captain, Colin Montgomerie, says in The New York Daily News that he'd rather not see a Rory McIlroy-Tiger Woods matchup now that's made news.
