The three-way fight for the starting job was nonetheless a hot topic among media members and fans alike who were on hand Sunday for the program's annual media and fan day. Everybody had questions about the quarterbacks.

AnnArbor.com football reporter Dave Birkett did his best to answer them while talking to quarterbacks coach Rod Smith and Rodriguez. He also learned Rodriguez expects to play all three QBs when Michigan opens the season against Western Michigan.

Here's some other nuggets that came out of Sunday's media day:

  • You've heard the legend of Shoeless Joe Jackson. Here's the story and video of Michigan's legendary freshman quarterback, Shoelace Robinson.

  • Coordinator Calvin Magee may have presided over the Big Ten's worst-ranked offense last year, but as you can see in this video, he's very excited about the potential of the Wolverines quarterbacks in the upcoming season.

  • If you haven't gotten your fill of quarterback coverage yet, Tate Forcier offers his thoughts on the quarterback competition.

  • Moving along to a different position, AnnArbor.com reporter Michael Rothstein got to the bottom of Kelvin Grady's rather sudden transformation from a basketball player to slot receiver on the Michigan football team. In a perhaps an even bigger surprise than his sport switch, Grady is vying for playing time.

  • In his Birk's Eye View column, Birkett offers some quick nuggets from the day. Among them: Adrian Witty's status with the team, a snapshot look at the two-deep depth chart in the secondary and the latest report on starting tailback Brandon Minor's health.

  • If you weren't among the 7,500 estimated fans or the media contingent Sunday, you can catch the flavor of the events in this video that photographer Melanie Maxwell compiled, and by watching, perhaps learn who holds the title as the Wolverines' top comedian.

  • AnnArbor.com reporter Jeff Arnold dove into the trenches, chatting with some of the fans in line to see who had driven the farthest and waited the longest in line to meet their favorite players.

  • There's less than two weeks remaining before the season opener against Western Michigan. Birkett and Rothstein talk about their top positions of concern as the team heads down the final stretch of camp in the latest edition of "For Argument's Sake."

  • One player who could help shore up a secondary lacking experience? Safety Vladimir Emilien expects to be one of perhaps 10 true freshmen who see the field this fall.

  • And finally: historically, Rich Rodriguez-coached teams have been among the best at hanging onto the football. Last year, the Wolverines were among the worst in college football in turnover margin. How does Rodriguez plan to address the problem? Read more here.
