The mistakes of youth: Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema will always have a part of Iowa with him

By Michael Rothstein

Football coaches, at least in public, are usually as buttoned-down as possible. They say little (unless they happen to be Greg McMackin - oops) and often give a vibe of being extremely conservative.

Then Wisconsin's Bret Bielema jumped on stage at Big Ten media days this week and mentioned his tattoo. Of the Iowa Hawkeye.

"Iowa, I graduated from there," Bielema said. "I've got a tattoo of a hawkeye on my calf. It was a great idea when I was 19."

Now, as the coach of Wisconsin, it is just a reminder of the past.
