SOUTHGATE -- Milan High School's girls golf team won its first tournament title in program history Thursday, finishing first at the 13-team Southgate Anderson Invitational.

Finnish exchange student Annette Silas (left) was the medalist, shooting a season low 72. Teammate Lindsey Lammers finished second with 74. Par was 72.

It's only the second time this season that Lammers didn't finish first at an event, and the first time a teammate has topped her.

"She wanted to go undefeated, but she was happy for the team effort," said coach Claire Neff, who has coached Milan all four years of the team's existence. "It's nice to take home medals as a team, and it's nice for the other girls to get acknowledged for their efforts." (Rest of the story)

That is a sweet and textbook "firm left side" on that pic of Silas' follow-through. A lot of male golfers could benefit from watching her.
