Tyler Benz named MAC West offensive player of the week

Eastern Michigan quarterback Tyler Benz was named the Mid-American Conference West Division offensive player of the week the conference announced on Monday.

Benz, a sophomore, completed 19-of-31 passes for 369 yards and five touchdowns in Eastern's 48-38 win over Army on Saturday. It was Benz's fourth start of his career and Eastern's first win of the season.

Eastern bring home the award for the second consecutive week after running back Bronson Hill received it last week for his 283 yard, four touchdown performance against Toledo. Hill also was also named National Running Back of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards for his performance.

Eastern plays at Bowling Green on Saturday.
