U-M comes up short in women's basketball upset bid at No. 19 Kansas
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Sade Morris scored a a career-high 26 points and became the 21st player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points, lifting No. 19 Kansas to a 77-66 win over Michigan on Sunday.
MGoBlue.com reports that Michigan kept Kansas Naismith Award candidate Danielle McCray at bay for most of the game, holding her to six first half-points and 11 for the game.
Veronica Hicks had 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals for Michigan (3-1). Freshman Dayeesha Hollins added 16 points for the Wolverines, who shot 7 of 15 from 3-point range to stay close before Kansas pulled away down the stretch.
Aishah Sutherland had 12 points and 11 rebounds for Kansas, which overcame 17 turnovers to start 3-0 for the third straight season under coach Bonnie Henrickson. Freshman Angel Goodrich chipped in seven assists and Morris had five.
