Unbelievable that you - someone who considers himself a journalist - would cheap shot a kid trying to turn around his life like that. Disappear for a while, please.

Birkett, You must feel pretty cool filling time by making "crowbar" comments on someone you haven't even met.

Mr. Birkett, Do you normally make tasteless jokes about high school athletes? Is this really what "journalism" has become? Heaven forbid that a troubled youth makes an attempt to turn his life around! It is disgraceful to continue dragging his name through the mud.......

Mr. Birkett, It's unfortunate that you chose to ridicule a scholar-athlete who is rehabilitating his life. Instead of pursuing a legitimate and well thought-out argument, you went with a satirical and classless comment. I have no problem with you challenging the Michigan football program or its athletes, but please leave the tasteless insinuations and jokes out of it. It does neither Demar or you any good.

Give the kid a chance Dave. He must feel like there's no point in turning his life around, as he'll always be considered a thug regardless of what he does to try and erase what he did (allegedly) as a juvenile. Not to mention extremely unwelcome in Ann Arbor. What's the point in making that classless joke? We don't need that negativity. You really should be ashamed of yourself.
