Duke, Ohio State and Kansas remain atop AP basketball rankings

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Duke, Ohio State and Kansas are 1-2-3 in The Associated Press Top 25 for the fourth straight week. AnnArbor.com's Michael Rothstein has them in the same position in his poll.

There is some change at the bottom of the poll, however, with Washington, Cincinnati and UNLV moving in.

Duke, the reigning national champion, is again a unanimous No. 1 on Monday. Syracuse, Pittsburgh, San Diego State and Villanova all moved up one place and are fourth through seventh. Connecticut dropped from fourth to eighth and was followed by Missouri and Kentucky.

Minnesota lost two games last week and dropped out of the Top 25 along with Louisville and Temple .

Michael Rothstein’s take: Duke remains the top team in the country — but, man, Ohio State is really starting to make that thought less clear each week. Those two are clearly the top tier right now, with Kansas a small notch below and then Syracuse and San Diego State — who share the tie of former Orange guard Tony Bland transferring to SDSU — just below that. The biggest move down was Minnesota, which drew a brutal opening Big Ten schedule at Wisconsin and at Michigan State. Neither went well for the Gophers, who are still a good team.
