Former Michigan forward DeShawn Sims finishes strong in Portsmouth

By Michael Rothstein

Former Michigan forward DeShawn Sims saved his best game for his final game in Portsmouth.

Sims, a 6-foot-8 forward playing for the Portsmouth Sports Club, scored a team-high 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals. His team also finally won a game, beating Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, 94-83.

The game was the first in the three-game tournament Sims did not start. While that isn't unusual for Portsmouth where player rotations and lineups fluctuate from game to game for scouting purposes, Sims had his most productive effort.

He scored his 21 points in 22 minutes on 10 of 17 shooting from the field.

For the three-game tournament, Sims averaged 18 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1 assist, .6 steals, .3 blocks and 1.3 turnovers in 30 minutes a game.
