March Madness in full swing; Super Bowl was good for Big Ten

By AnnArbor.com Staff

It's only February, but March Madness is already in full swing.

The NCAA is looking at expanding the NCAA tournament field from 64 teams to as many as 96. AnnArbor.com's Mike Rothstein gauges the reactions of Big Ten coaches to the expansion possibilities.

Any expansion will affect future tournaments, not the one around the corner.

For news on next month, we'll turn to Andy Glockner of SI.com, who argues that while the Big Ten and Big East may be top-heavy this year, there's one conference deeper than the rest, and it's poised to have a major impact on the NCAA tournament selection committee.

Another conference to keep an eye on: The Mountain West, which has three teams ranked in the top 25 for the first time ever. Jay Drew of the Salt Lake Tribune has more on the MWC.
