Michigan basketball team average in win over Penn State
The Michigan basketball team came from behind to beat Penn State, 64-55, on Thursday, but did it because the Wolverines were atrocious in the first half and stellar in the second half.
Offense In the first half, Michigan had more turnovers than baskets. No one besides DeShawn Sims showed up, and the Wolverines missed all 12 of their 3-point shots. Then in the second half, the Wolverines shot 66.7 percent from the field. They made 7 of their last 10 three-pointers. And they won. But a failing first half and an excellent second half leads to an average grade. Grade: C
Defense Michigan couldn’t handle Talor Battle in the first half. The Wolverines gave up points in transition - 11 of them - and were outrebounded. They were beat up by a multitude of Nittany Lions scorers. In the second half, they shut out Battle and forced the Nittany Lions into 10 of their 17 turnovers. Bad first half. Good second half. Grade: C
Coaching: John Beilein’s squad looked unorganized and dispassionate in the first half. Then he walked into the locker room silent and Michigan woke up, playing its best half, scoring-wise, of the year. Nice coaching move, but he should have had Michigan ready from the beginning in what could be described as a neutral-site game. Grade C

Heh Heh, nice try Walmart, but your fear and insecurity are showing through. I don't know who "your" team is (probably either the Stink-eyes who we recently humiliated or Sparty who we will soon humiliate), but right now we're standing in the middle of the Big Ten with most of the season left and the best coach in the league. Also, you can't spell "buried." More evidence that you are an OSU or MSU grad.

With how JB's team played in the off season, this win against a big ten team is a win and should be taken in a positive note. A 2-1 record in the big ten at this point is better than 0-3. LLP lost confidence shooting the 3's after the off season. But if there's players who will take it, then LLP and Douglass should instead of Sims and Gibson who should be underneath.

John Belein will keep working on ironing out the wrinkles in Michigan's game. Good news is there are 3 straight home games to keep working on this team. Go Blue!

As the announcers said repeatedly I would to hear what Beilein said at halftime.
