Michigan basketball coach John Beilein breaks down the Wolverines' loss to UTEP

By Michael Rothstein

The Michigan basketball team didn't do much right in its 65-56 loss to UTEP in the Legends Classic consolation game Saturday.

Much of that, though, was due to the Miners' defense and a resulting Michigan scoring drought that lasted more than one-third of the game.

Hear Michigan coach John Beilein's thoughts after the jump.

Neutron Bill left the buildings in place, but destroyed the programs. Thanks Bill. Basketball will remain mediocre for many years to come thanks to the Beilein contract extension. (Check Beilein's conference record versus Big East teams, as well as Big Ten teams). Football is now beyond mediocre (that's below, not above) and it will take many years to repair the damage that has been done to football recruitment, winning tradition and respect.

He just needs more time. The team is young. How many programs are starting so many true freshman? Just be patient...Oh wait, isn't that the football theme song? Michigan athletics is just a plain mess. Great job Bill Martin!
