Michigan basketball picks up another NBA legacy, Glenn Robinson III

By Michael Rothstein

The Michigan basketball team has added yet another son of a former NBA and college star.

Glenn Robinson III, the son of former Purdue star and former Milwaukee Buck Glenn Robinson, verbally committed to play for the Wolverines on Tuesday night, according to his Lake Central (Ind.) high school coach, Dave Milausnic.

"Smooth getting by people," Mialusnic said of Robinson III's game. "He uses his length well. He's just learning his arms are longer than the guy guarding him and he can shooot over the top of him."

The 6-foot-5, 175-pound Robinson becomes the first member of Michigan's class of 2012.

A three-star recruit by Scout.com, Robinson joins sophomore guard Jordan Dumars (Joe Dumars), freshman forward Jon Horford (Tito Horford) and freshman swingman Tim Hardaway Jr. (Tim Hardaway) as the sons of former NBA players that could possibly play for Michigan in 2012.

Rivals.com reports Robinson had offers from Valparaiso, Colorado and Missouri State, among others.

Unfortunately good blood lines don't make for a top tier Big Ten team. I am not convinced our recruits are capable of getting us over the hump of mediocrity. Too many 6'5" guys and no big bodies.
