Michigan basketball coach John Beilein will speak with Manny Harris about his potential return
A day after Michigan junior guard Manny Harris indicated he’ll return for his senior season in Ann Arbor, Wolverines basketball coach John Beilein said he has yet to speak to his star about his statement.
“We haven’t talked about it one second,” Beilein said on his radio show Wednesday. “I will talk to him tomorrow.”
Manny Harris
Harris briefly contemplated declaring for the draft last season before announcing he would return for his junior year without officially declaring, which allows him the option to declare this year with having the option of returning to school.
The Detroit native is averaging 18.7 points and 6.5 rebounds this season and is shooting 43.3 percent from the field.
“During the season we really don’t talk about many of those issues. It’s sort of an after-the-season thing,” Beilein said on his show. “We do talk all year long about life skills and what you have to be prepared for whether you’re going to take a job or try professional basketball.
“Life skills, you have to have it. You don’t get a lot of those opportunities. You don’t get many do-overs once you go out and take a job.”
Harris indicated he would return after Michigan’s 67-52 loss to Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., on Tuesday. He has a long time, though, to decide if that is his final decision.

Thats crazy! If Manny returns, then how could this team get worse next year? I mean we'll lose our #2 player in Sims, but he's often hot/cold, meanwhile we'll have 2 decent freshman coming in that both might get some playing time, plus a tall redshirt, plus a player off injury and everyone else with yet another year to improve their skills and knowledge of the Beilein system. But lose Manny and this team is in trouble.

Manny should have gone pro last year. He He better do it now or else his stock will really go down next year. The pros are aware of his abilities.

Hold on there A2D2. Lets say Michigan does get the shot clock eliminated and plays for the last shot. I know what would happen. With about 25 seconds left in the game, Michigan would call time out. They would run a play and with about six seconds left, take an ill advised shot after passing up fifteen layup attempts. Then the opposition would pick up the long rebound, sprint the court and make a layup with.4 seconds left on the clock. And all that delay would have been useless. Hsrris should probably just go. Then, the opposition doesn't have to guard anyone. Nobody else can make a bucket, so if Manny stays, he will just be quadruple guarded. The fifth guy would stand under the basket and get the rebound. Go Blue.

Potentially great news......without Sims and Harris UofM would score about 13 points a game next year.. Wait, wait, wait......here's next year's plan - - - get the shot clock eliminated, win the tip and play for the last shot......
