Michigan, EMU women's basketball teams play conference games today

By AnnArbor.com Staff

The Michigan women’s basketball team is unbeaten in seven games at home. Indiana, which visits the Crisler Center at 2 p.m. today, is winless in its six Big Ten games.

Blowout, right?

“Every game in the Big Ten is a big game. That’s how we see it,” Michigan senior guard Courtney Boylan said. “When we prepare for a team, there’s not one opponent that we see as a bigger win than another because every team in the Big Ten’s so good.”

Following a 58-48 win at Northwestern on Thursday, Michigan (15-4, 4-2) is in a four-way tie for third place in the Big Ten, two games behind Purdue (16-3, 6-0).

Indiana (5-14, 0-6) is led by junior transfer Jasmine McGhee. Last year’s national junior college player of the year at Vincennes University is averaging 13.4 points for the Hoosiers.

Championship rematch for EMU

Last March, Bowling Green dashed the Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team’s NCAA Tournament hopes with a 51-46 win in the Mid-American Conference title game.

The two MAC division leaders meet again at 2 p.m. today at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green. The game will be shown on Comcast Michigan (channel 901 in Ann Arbor).

Bowling Green (15-3, 5-0 MAC East) has won nine straight meetings against Eastern Michigan (12-6, 4-1 MAC West). The Falcons are the only team that AnnMarie Gilbert has not beaten in her five years as EMU’s head coach.
