Michigan plays well in 60-46 win over Iowa and earns good grades
Giving up 46 points? That's what Michigan did on Saturday, and that effort earns the Wolverines an easy A in one of the three categories.
OFFENSE:
Michigan may have had 19 offensive rebounds, but they came from missed shots. The Wolverines shot 31.2 percent in the second half and under 40 percent (36.2 percent) for the game. They had 12 turnovers and only 13 assists, which is not a staple of a John Beilein offense. But Michigan outscored Iowa on offensive rebounding, 22-3.
GRADE: B-
DEFENSE:
Iowa didn’t have a field goal for the first nine minutes of the game. After that, it didn’t get much better for the Hawkeyes until Michigan had the game well in hand. Beilein praised the Wolverines’ defense and rightfully so. They held Iowa to 21.4 percent shooting in the first half and Michigan had as many offensive rebounds (19) and Iowa had defensive rebounds. Not often you see that.
GRADE: A
COACHING:
Beilein had his team ready to play and believing that with 10 games left in the year, the Wolverines could still make a run. The opening sequence of the game was also a great job by Beilein and his staff.
GRADE: A-

Engineer, he does these grades for every game. It is not a seasonal grade, it is a one-game grade.

Your grades are way too high. At one game over.500 anything better than a C- is crazy. A team that should have made some noise in the Big Ten is now struggling to make the NIT. Hardly a A effort for the year. It is a little late to get motivated but I guess better late than never. Will be interesting to see the effort at the Breslin where it will be payback time baby! I hope they are angry as all heck.

Solid effort from start to finish, it was nice to see the team close out what they started this time around. They'll need this kind of effort and more the rest of the way for any real run at the NCAA's.
