Rehab length still unclear, but family says Michigan basketball recruit Austin Hatch is still progressing
The family of Michigan basketball commit Austin Hatch reported Monday that the length of the rehabilitation process remains "unclear" for the injuries Hatch sustained during a June 24 plane crash that took the lives of his father and stepmother.
Hatch's family continues to update a CaringBridge.org page that details his recovery. On Monday, the family referred to Hatch as a "hard working student athlete" that has a "beautiful attitude and is enjoying day visits with close friends and family."
Family members note that they are staying on course with the advice given to them by the staff at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, meaning they are allowing no more than three visitors at a time -- allowing Hatch to focus more on his recovery.
The final note on the page, which has now received more than 195,000 page views, reads that "while the length of the rehab program is still unclear, he looks forward to returning to home and normal activities."
Hatch, a 16-year-old junior at Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, Ind.,, made a verbal commitment to be part of the 2013 Michigan basketball recruiting class in mid June. He and his father, Stephen, also survived a similar plane crash in 2003 that killed his mother and two siblings.
