AnnArbor.com sweepstakes winner: Big Rapids man wins 4 tickets to Ohio State at Michigan football game

By Jim Knight

Brian Williams, home for Thanksgiving for the first time in 18 years, hunted online for tickets to the Ohio State at Michigan football game, but didn’t see anything in his price range.

A phone call Tuesday evening ended his search.

Williams won four tickets to the game Saturday in the AnnArbor.com U-M vs. OSU Ticket Giveaway Sweepstakes. He entered online by liking the AnnArbor.com Michigan Football News & Views page on Facebook for a chance to win.

Williams, a 41-year-old Big Rapids resident, is a dental lab tech currently based at Langley Air Force Base in Langley, Va. He’s been to Michigan Stadium twice before, but never for an Ohio State at Michigan game.

“It’s been one of those things growing up, it’s been on the bucket list,” he said.

Williams will take his 11-year-old son Braeden (“He likes Denard Robinson"), his brother, Mike, and his father, Jim, to the game.

Williams said he grew up rooting for Michigan in part because one of his friends in Big Rapids had a father who knew longtime Michigan coach Bo Schembechler.

“He was always getting stuff signed by the team,” Williams said. “So a whole group of us were big Wolverines fans.”

Williams’ prediction: “A Wolverine win. I hope it’s not close, but it probably will be, 21-17, something like that.”
