Big Ten football championship game tickets sell out in two hours

By AnnArbor.com Staff

General public tickets for the first Big Ten football championship game were sold out within two hours early Saturday, the league announced.

An additional 15,000 tickets were set aside for each team that qualifies for the game, which will be played Dec. 3 at 63,000-seat Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Individuals who snagged tickets when they went on sale at 10 a.m. will be able to purchase tickets in a comparable location for the 2012 game.

The game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium through 2015. FOX Sports has broadcasting rights for the game through 2016.

Granting Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis the title game through 2015 smacks a bit like bribery. How ludicrous to have a 63,000 seat stadium host all the games when there are so many more Big 10 schools with larger capacities. It should have rotated to all the schools. Of course it doesn't surprise me that the same people who gave unpopular names to the divisions made this decision also.

The brokers and agents who bought these tickets are going to make out like the bandits they are!

Is Fox Sports owned by Rupert Murdock too? If so - the Big Ten (now 12) should never have struck that deal. Fox Sports: will probably have Sarah Palin doing color commentary on that game. Any Murdock company is capable of anything.
