Braylon Edwards releases statement about alleged involvement in Birmingham bar fight

By AnnArbor.com Staff

A public relations firm released a statement on behalf of NFL wide receiver Braylon Edwards on Thursday claiming the former Michigan football standout has been cleared of any involvement in a fight at South Bar in Birmingham earlier this week.

Two cousins of Edwards are being charged with felonious assault after the brawl resulted in two bouncers being stabbed -- one with a pocket knife, another with a fork.

"What occurred last weekend at South Bar was very unfortunate. However, Birmingham Police have indicated that Braylon was not involved," said Darci E. McConnell, of McConnell Communications in the statement. "Mr. Edwards intends to cooperate fully in any inquiry, but because this is an ongoing legal investigation, we can not comment further."
