Braylon Edwards will host celebrity basketball game at Pioneer High School on April 15

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards is bringing his basketball fundraiser back to Ann Arbor on April 15.

The Braylon Edwards Foundation Celebrity Basketball game was announced on Edwards' website Tuesday evening. The university is offering tickets on its athletic website.

The site touts the game as a "5 on 5 grudge match game of basketball featuring former Michigan teammates, current NFL players, retired legends and celebrities."

Because Crisler Arena is undergoing renovations, the game will be played at Pioneer High School. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute to fund ALS research.

The game's participants have not been disclosed. Last year's participants included former Michigan football players Mike Hart, Steve Breaston, Adrian Arrington and Ryan Mundy; former basketball players Jimmy King and Brent Petway, former NBA player Derrick Coleman, former Michigan State standout Jason Richardson and others.

You can say I'm part of the MC Crowd, but I'll stand up and say it to all of you REAL LOUD: RR had vision and he has paved the way for the WINNING team Coach Hoke has today. Now let's not fight or call each other names it's all about Michigan winning B1G games. We all want to see a return to glory. Say what you want. You can tell your story. Just remember when it's all said and done, that I am the number one fan! "I'm the number one fan!" "I'm the number one fan!" Tell your story. (See Spartacus) "I'm the number one fan!" "I'm the number one fan!"

Always Michigan, Portage. Always Michigan. 'Tis a shame that there are many posters on here who don't have the patience to see that...

Theo, you see what you got started, now everyone wants to be a poet like you. Just goes to show you how people like your style and I'm betting more like what you have to say about our great Michigan Wolverines. I think the old saying hold true about "what goes around comes around". I'd like to see someday a real good Rich Rodriguez team against a real good Hoke team say in a BCS game say in 5 years. I had a moment to talk football with John Matuszak back around 1988 give or take in Los Angeles. I said to John wouldn't it be something to see this team or that team in the Super Bowl and John Matuszak said to me, "I've seen stranger things when it comes to football". Now if that matchup of Brady Hoke against Rich Rodriguez were to happen whom do you boys and girls think I would cheer for??

Not so strange, Theo is honest. I'd like to hear some more football news from the boys and girls of Ann Arbor news, sports. I'm curious what the opinion is of the current talent of our Wolverines. I suspect there is a lot of talent that Brady Hoke inherited for the 2011 season. A lot of folks are happy that the, "bum" Rich Rodriguez was fired for hijacking our angelic team only to purposely drag Michigan into the depths of hell. I on the other hand think that Rich was headed in the right direction with some outstanding talent ready to shine in 2011. This was probably the youngest team in the country the last two yrs. I know from past Wolverine talent that the majority of young talent usually start to shine in their junior years. I honestly think that most of Rich Rodriguez's talent is beginning their junior years and we should see some stars being born and with the addition of a battle tested new defensive coordinator this could be a breakout yr. for the Michigan Wolverines depending on how good a "team" coordinator Brady Hoke turns out to be.

Theo, I hear things in the wind like Rich Rodriguez will probably coach down South and probably get a primo job. Word has it that Mich. has not tarnished Rich's legend among many schools and coaches. Word has it that Rich Rodriguez never had a chance at Mich. from day one to his final days at Mich. I hear that a lot of schools are interested in him after his self-imposed hiatus ends probably 2012 or 2013. A lot of fans at Mich don't want to understand that Rich Rodriguez is well respected not only among many in Ann Arbor but many coaches throughout the country. He failed at Mich before he even got started but hey, I salute the guy for what he was doing at Mich. to get us away from the Neanderthal thinking. That Neanderthal mentality is what brought Rich Rodriguez down before he got a chance to get started. Mich. will probably do pretty good under Hoke but if he takes Mich. down memory lane that's about as far as we'll go, pretty good. I for one say, good luck to Brady and I hope that with a school of Michigan's magnitude that Hoke can be flexible in his style. I think he should field a decent team after all, the real talent are at least sophmore and juniors.

Right again, Portage! Word has it that DRob will carry out a life-size statue of Our King for each game and then consult with it between touchdown drives. What's the statue made of? Crystal.

To be fair, Our King should coach one team (it would be dynamic and fast) and Hoke the other. Winner of the game then coaches Michigan's football team. Still time to do the right thing, DB.
