Michigan offensive coordinator Al Borges breaks down film with BTN
By AnnArbor.com Staff
Footwork and decision making.
Those are the two areas that offensive coordinator Al Borges says he and quarterback Denard Robinson are focused on for the Michigan football team to "take the next step is in our passing game."
Big Ten Network analyst Howard Griffith sat with Borges as he dissected several of Robinson's plays from the 2011 season. The segment aired on "The Big Ten Football Report" on Tuesday night.

As someone who is in the know, it should be noted that Borges is making up what he is saying as he is going along during this interview. Not only is what he is saying not making any sense, but he gives his cluelessness away with his darting eyes and facial expressions. As I watch him here in this video his non-verbal language cues are screaming, " Oh my gosh, I hope no-one figures out that I have no idea what I am saying right know." After every sentence he completes the look on his face says, "do you believe what I just said?"

It was interesting to see the big ten coaches rankings... Meyer has not coached one game yet, but he still tops the list. Hoke is second. I have to say, it is fine with me that we always seem to be in second place to Ohio St. they are such a great program. In any other conference we would be number 1.

I agree with a lot of my Michigan buddies here....I also might add; last season's beginning was tough as both coach and quarterback had different expectations coming in and although they meshed really well, there was still a lot of apprehension in DRob's play....I like what AB is doing and how DRob, despite his success is a good listener and eager to adapt. Denard had some perfection in his last thrown TD pass vs nd and also vt....need much more plays like these. MgoBlueForTiM......DRob running plays and the table this year..

While AB is working with DR on footwork and decision making, I hope he also works on his playbook pass routes. On the 1st play, the INT, DR was set in the pocket before the receivers were 10yds off the ball, all R's were in front of the D and no more than 10-15yds down field ( easy read ). When DR threw the ball the LB jumped the route, the OSLB came over and the S came up. AB should have stretched the field with at least 1 R on that side to take away the other LB and or S. On the last play, all Rs went deep, when the pocket started to collapse there wasn't a R within 20yds, that's sometimes where the D can get a coverage sack, but it's a good thing DR was mobile enough to allude the rush and hit Gallon down field. AB has to come up with a scheme where DR and the Receivers are in sync and creating separation. If AB comes up with a good pass attack to go along with DR/FT's running game, UM's offense will be tough to stop this year.

Wolverines fans can sleep easy nights, knowing that Borges, Mattison and Hoke know what they're doing and are on the job. It may be hard to wait that long, but 5 months of preparation is what's needed before the first game of 2012. Other: I hope the start time for the game vs Alabama is announced soon. We need a count-down clock! I hope ticket information & package prices come out sooner rather than later: Michigan deserves a big M turnout for this game. I hope people are bookmarking Alabama football so they can track what Sabam and 'The Tide" are up to. Blue over Red! That's all that needs to be said!

" Denard's running game is pretty solid. There is still a deal her and there." Please don't fix the deal here and there. Denard's running and running threat bailed out the pro style offense that was stalled against Iowa and Michigan state. Get Denard's passing percentage up and Michigan could win the Big ten- if the defense doesn't regress.

The Mad Genius! It is always fun to listen to Al break things down. I like how they are expecting a lot of Denard and are keep putting pressure on Denard to improve. The type of person that Denard is, with his character, competitiveness and drive...this is the way to coach the young man. With this type of coaching...I forsee about 23 TDs passing 7 INTs... to go along with 15 TDs rushing and a nice trophy to put on the mantle in December...for 'Lace.

A last season to watch Denard lead the maize and blue. What could be more perfect? Life is good.

That would be a pretty drastic change, but if you are correct you can start polishing that mantle.
