Chris Relf, Mississippi defense and Martavious Odoms pick up accolades

By Pete Bigelow

Pete Bigelow hands out game balls after Michigan's 52-14 loss to Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl, with four being the best:

CHRIS RELF (3 1/2): Wearing jersey No. 36 in honor of deceased teammate Nick Bell, the Mississippi State quarterback was nearly flawless Saturday. He completed 18 of 23 passes for 281 yards and three TDs, and also carried 15 times for 49 yards and another score.

MISSISSIPPI STATE DEFENSE (3 1/2): Earlier this year, the unit held Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton to his worst performance of the season. The Bulldogs had a heck of an encore Saturday, holding Denard Robinson to a season-low 59 rushing yards.

MARTAVIOUS ODOMS (2): Playing for the first time since midseason because of injury, the Michigan junior wide receiver provided a sorely needed spark for the Wolverines’ kickoff return unit. He amassed 190 all-purpose yards on the day, including two kick returns of more than 40 yards. He caught a 27-yard touchdown pass as well.

Hopkins could be a super star if Harbaugh comes here...and yes, he got hurt right away yesterday.

I think Hopkins came in for one play at the Gator Bowl and left the game with a leg injury. Didn't come back.

where did running back Hopkins go in Gator Bowl? never saw him carry ball. last part of season, his playing time decreased, esp late in games. he was UM's only big back and could run inside the tackles. what happened to him?

In the Det News...a Miss State LB called RR's vaunted offense "predictable we knew what they were going to do" so much for that...
