Columnist says Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson already has his Heisman Trophy vote
By AnnArbor.com Staff
Denard Robinson can already count on one vote for the Heisman Trophy. Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz said Indiana was beaten by "greatness" on Saturday when Michigan left with a 42-35 victory.
Kravitz on Robinson:
There are certain moments that reveal a potential Heisman Trophy winner's essence, and that came on that final five-play, 73-yard game-winning drive that sealed the 42-35 victory. "Shoelace'' has got my Heisman vote, and it would take an act of God to make me change my mind.

Had a conversation with a former UMich athlete yesterday. Thank God for Robinson and the kids on the football team that actually pay the costs of every sport played on campus IN ADDITION TO OFFSETTING the effete, dysfunctional weirdness surrounding the current UMich Student Body President. If stats are relevant, this is different take on the Michigan, defense, which I thought played well against Indiana, especially the way they held up the second half and for being on the field for 40 minutes. vs. Indiana: Mich Indiana Average Gain Per Play....... 12.8 5.8 Mich 1st 4 games: All Opponents Average Per Play............ 7.5 5.7 Indiana 1st 4 games: Indiana Opponents Average Per Play................. 6.3 6.9 Ohio State 1st 5 games: Ohio Opponents Average Per Play.......... 6.5...........4.2

Bob Kravitz is a smart sports columnist, too bad we dont have that kind of talent at AnnArbor.com. AnnArbor.com leadership just cant recruit or develop smart columnists; maybe they can learn something from the Indianapolis Star, if not maybe it's time for a leadership change at AnnArbor.com.

This is why some writers do not deserve a vote. Yes, at this point in the season Denard is the leader. What happens if the next game he blows out a knee and is out, then Mark Ingram runs for 200 yards per game. What if Terrel Pryor has the same kind of 5 game stretch that DRob just had in his next 5? It cheapens the award to have voters declare a winner prior to the season being finished. Peyton Manning almost won a Heisman because of that back ward thinking.

Well heck... probably should just award the national championship to Michigan while he is at it.

The Michigan football staff needs to let Denard Robinson and this offensive line know how much they are helping this program and how much our fans appreciate them. Seriously, they are putting forth more effort than ANYONE to save this program and it's an inspiration to us all to represent this university as well as they have. Hail!

He is definitely the leader at this point. There is still a lot of football left though. At this point, the best part about the hype that DR is getting is the impact it will have on recruits.
