Denard 'Shoes' Robinson? Michigan QB's latest claim to fame is being a 'Jeopardy' answer

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Heisman Trophy hopeful, NCAA season-record holder for rushing yards by a quarterback, first player in history to pass for 2,500 yards and rush for 1,500 yards ... blah, blah, blah.

Denard Robinson really hit the big-time on Monday, when the Michigan football quarterback was an answer on "Jeopardy!"

The self-proclaimed "America's Favorite Quiz Show" included this answer during Monday's Teen Tournament episode:

"University of Michigan QB Denard Robinson, who runs a 10.4 100 meters, is known for never tying these."

A contestant named Kate buzzed in and answered -- in the form of a question, of course -- "What are his shoes?"

Technically, we think the answer (or question ... this is so confusing!) should have been "What are his shoelaces?" But who are we to argue with Alex Trebek, who granted Kate the 200 points.

I love D. Rob and all, but why was this a "Jeopardy" question?

let's not quibble. i don't care if the answer was 'shoe-trees' and kate was awarded 200 acorns and a manual on how to plant a tree----------that is something really special for denard. alex IS bigtime.

Technically, Trebek awarded Kate 200 dollars. But who am I to argue with annarbor.com, who wrote this story.

I contend otherwise. There is a dollar symbol on Kate's score. Whether the contestants are awarded the money, I don't know. I don't really care, I just just meant to mock the last paragraph of the story.

It's uncertain whether it's dollars or points during the teen tournament. Unlike the regular game, participants do not win the amount of money shown on their screens. There's a set award for the top three places at the end of the tournament.

Doesn't tie his laces... But he does use velcro. 2011 Stats: 1000 Yards Rushing. 3500 Yards Passing.
