Former Michigan football great, Heisman Trophy winner and recent College Football Hall of Fame inductee Desmond Howard will serve as the grand marshal at the Aug. 21 Pure Michigan 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup event.

Michigan football connections swept the grand marshal role at MIS this season. Former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr was the grand marshal in June for the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400.

Howard was inducted into the Hall of Fame on July 16, the 35th player with Michigan ties to be honored.
