Desmond Howard playing for Ohio State, Notre Dame or Michigan State? New video game makes it possible

By Nick Baumgardner

For four years, former Michigan football star Desmond Howard tortured rival opponents with highlight-reel catches and electrifying returns.

But what if Howard put the hurt on the Wolverines while wearing an Ohio State jersey? Or Notre Dame gold and blue? Or a Michigan State helmet?

In EA Sports' NCAA Football '13 video game, that's absolutely a possibility.

The newest edition of EA's college football game features a "Heisman Challenge" option that allows players to take one of 10 former Heisman Trophy winners and play them on any team of their choosing.

Howard, who won the award in 1991, is among the 10 available and is shown in an EA Sports video clip catching passes in a virtual Ohio State and Notre Dame uniform.

Other available Heisman swappers are Barry Sanders, Andre Ware, Herschel Walker, Robert Griffin III, Marcus Allen, Charlie Ward, Eddie George, Carson Palmer and Doug Flutie.

Jim Plunkett, Archie Griffin and Tim Brown will be available for those who download the "demo" version of the game, while Tim Tebow, Matt Leinart and Mark Ingram can be used by pre-order customers.

Fellow Michigan Heisman winners Charles Woodson and Tom Harmon are not available players.

Kind of off topic, but word is that Jake Butt was awesome at NFTC Illinois. Even Ohio folks were saying it! Go Blue!!

So, does EA pay the players for using their names and likenesses, or are they still getting screwed by the system?

No Alan Ameche for the backfield? What a shame.

Larry, a tragic disaster in the form of a scrambled specs of bone and brain matter where once a beautiful smile on such an inviting face stood strong on what would then only remain as a bloody stump would bring a tear to both of our eyes. Larry, the future knows not what it brings, so if you ever get a chance as I did , kiss his holy hand and send your blessing to his soul. Barack bless us all. :)

Larry Weisenthal we are not at odds my friend. WE both desire to please this dear leader in ANY manner he see fit. I'm not so sure you understand , but it was I who put together the 1st gathering of the men's only Michigan man Picnic.

I'm afraid this is going to destroy Michigan's recruiting efforts with all the great Wide Receiver recruits who, now while playing video games will no longer associate Howard with Michigan. And the way things are going in the WR recruiting department this will be the nail in the coffin when it comes to hopefully landing anyone worthy of playing Division 1 ball.

Some things are just wrong. Doesn't Desmond have a right of first refusal?? Bo is gotta be having a heart attack in heaven around now!!
