Fan returns to Michigan Stadium with son for first time in more than 50 years

By Pete Cunningham

Joe Stabnick was freshman at the University of Michigan in 1959. A few months into his first semester, his father died and he returned East to be with his family, eventually graduating from Connecticut. Saturday, he was back at Michigan Stadium for the first time since his freshman year. He rooted for Michigan in the Wolverines' 30-10 victory against UConn.

Wow. What a nice story. As an alum living in California, I too have yearning to walk down the memory lane with my family. Maybe next year. It's been almost 30 years since my last visit to Michigan Stadium. Best of luck to Stabnick family.

Love it. My Dad came back to Ann Arbor with me after 40+ years in 1995. His first game in decades (and my first game ever) was the 18-17 win over Virginia.
