By Jim Knight

Jim Knight hands out game balls after Michigan's 34-10, weather-shortened win over Western Michigan:

BRANDON HERRON (4): The senior linebacker had a career game in less than three quarters with a 94-yard touchdown on an interception return and a 29-yard fumble recovery for another score. He also had eight tackles.

MICHIGAN KICK COVERAGE TEAM (1/2): Michigan struggled to contain Western Michigan’s return team as the Broncos’ average start to drives was at the 35-yard line. Only once did Western start inside the 20, and that came off a punt.

DENARD ROBINSON (3): The junior quarterback showed a balanced game, going 9-of-13 passing for 98 yards (and spreading the ball among six receivers) and rushing for 46 yards on eight carries.

MOTHER NATURE (4): Showing she’s a multi-faceted threat, Mother Nature brought the heat, thunder and showed up with rain and lightning in each half, eventually forcing the first shortened game in Michigan football history.
