Gov. Rick Snyder pits cherry pie against Ohio gov's buckeye pie in Michigan-Ohio State wager

Mmmm. Cherry pie.

Gov. Rick Snyder is a University of Michigan graduate and a Superior Township resident. Ohio Gov. John Kasich is a graduate of Ohio State University.

And here comes the Ohio State at Michigan football game on Saturday at Michigan Stadium (Noon, ABC). It's the first time since 1942 that both governors are graduates of the universities that make up "The Game."

Gentlemen, place your bets.

Snyder is wagering a Michigan cherry pie against Kasich's chocolate and peanut butter "Buckeye" pie.

Naturally, this called for statements from the offices of both governors.

Snyder: “Thanks to Coach (Brady) Hoke and the dedication of our seniors, the Wolverines have turned a corner and are returning to the form that made Michigan the nation’s all-time winning program. I’m confident we’ll see a win on Saturday that will make all of Michigan proud.”

Kasich: “I’m proud of the Buckeyes for sticking together during a tough year. I’m also proud of how Coach (Luke) Fickell has stepped up and helped sustain a strong sense of unity and purpose. We’re all hungry for another win over the team up north and we’ll be rooting hard for it.”

Oddsmakers say Snyder will soon discover the caloric content of a slice of chocolate and peanut butter pie. Michigan is a seven-point favorite.

Lemme guess: Both pies will have big pieces removed. First priority goes to the super rich.
