How would Notre Dame benefit from joining Big Ten?

By AnnArbor.com Staff

With its exclusive NBC television contract, what would be the incentive for Notre Dame to consider joining the Big Ten when it pursues expansion?

That's one of the questions posed to ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg in his weekly mail blog.

Rittenberg answers: a move to the conference, from a television rights perspective, would potentially be more lucrative for Notre Dame because of the success of the Big Ten Network.

He offers his take on potential Big Ten expansion, plus a lot more. Here's the link to Rittenberg's complete report.

The FACT is, ND would recieve significantly more money from the Big Ten network than they do from NBC.

Wrong, they have a real coach now. As for Michigan, what were you 5/6 and YOU talk over rated? How blind we are!

Why would they join when they have their own fat contract they get all the money to? This wqas a question I asked myself 20 years ago...but not now. They had their chance, they made their own bed, they are a horribly over rated team and no one will care about them in a couple years.

No, no and No! America loves these two teams and it would take some luster away from the game as conference foes. America's favorite two teams need to be somewhat independent of each other... besides last I heard Notre Dame expressed absolutely 'No Interest' in joining the Big Ten. Dorsey 35 ND 0 in 2010.
