PREGAME

You want the game angle or the emotional angle for the San Diego State at Michigan football game?

Emotion: Brady Hoke is coaching against the team he led for two seasons and that he left just eight months ago. Both teams are unbeaten. Both sides say what happened eight months ago doesn't matter.

The game: San Diego State, like Michigan, is off to a 3-0 start. The Aztecs, like Michigan, are strong on offense, averaging 428 total yards and 38 points a game. Michigan averages 33 points and 403.7 yards a game, so expect a few touchdowns today.

We'll update this file throughout the game.

Michigan's defense played a good game today. I'm seeing game to game improvement, which is what you would expect a well coached team to do. Offense needs to improve dramatically to get thru conference play. Denard is an amazing player to watch, but his passing has been horrible. His receivers have bailed him out in prior games. Something I didn't see in todays game. I'd like to see Denard complete shorter, quick passes instead of heaving it 'hail mary' style downfield. Remember last year he would fake a run then quick pass to the lead back in the secondary? That play worked pretty good. My fear is that this team is going to be successful like last years team, winning on Denards feet, but when it comes to playing the top tier teams, he gets shut down and Michigan loses. All in all, this team is alot of fun to watch, and much better than what we've seen in the last few years. BTW...What happened to Mark Mumford?? He was on here talking smack yesterday about how badly sdsu was going to beat Michigan.

Way too many mistakes and broken plays. If they don't shape up they'll lose half of the rest of their games.

Giving them 8 wins. Right where everyone is putting them.

take away the mistakes and the turnovers (which are fixable) and michigan would have had at least two more TD's. this team still needs a lot of work on both sides of the ball, but we are seeing improvement each week. FITZ and VS make a good combo at RB and the defense can bend but not brake as bad as last year. GO BLUE!!!

Denard got to a better job passing the ball. Otherwise, this will be a repeat of last year.

Defense continues to improve/impress. Passing game doesn't. But the former is the more important storyline.

Denard's passing is still terrible... But when you run for 200 I guess it doesn't really matter. He may never amount to a decent passer, but what's the difference between a 40yd run and a 40yd pass?

I am totally pleased with coach Hoke and how he has turned this team back into a TEAM. 28-7 over SDSU is certainly a strong statement. Robinson is astounding, as is the much improved defense. Go Blue!

Am I hallucinating? All week I heard that Smith was going to start, yet on the opening drive who do I see? Hopkins. Can someone at Michigan define "Start" for me. The first time Smith gets in he's asked to block and does a nice job albeit on the backside of the play. The next time they give the ball to him, it looks like he will be stopped at the line of scrimmage, but he breaks free and goes all the way inside the ten yard line setting up DR's touchdown run. Face it, play Smith and quit screwing around.
