Korie Lucious booted from Michigan State basketball team by coach Tom Izzo

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Junior guard Korie Lucious was kicked off the Michigan State basketball team Tuesday, a release from the university said.

“Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program,” Izzo said in the statement. “My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season.”

Michigan State's revamped lineup will be tested at 7 p.m. Thursday when the Spartans (12-7, 4-3 Big Ten) play host to Michigan (11-9, 1-6).

Lucious averages 6.5 points a game and a team-high 4.1 assists per game.

Hopefully JB will get in touch and bring him to Ann Arbor. We need talent badly and this might be the only way we get a recruit away from Izzo with this staff. By the way if he played for Dantonio would have been no problem. Even if he got jailed they would picked him up and and took him to practice.

It appears some of the players on Izzo's team forgot who got them to the final four last year and gave them a lot of fame. When a player's ego takes over and they believe they know as much or more than the coach problems will rise. Sad for them and maybe an opportunity for Michigan. We need a win and what better place than MSU! Go BLUE!

Maybe this is the way izzo fires up his team. It appears every year someone is kicked off the team. Sounds like there football team too. Zero tolerance baby.

He "displayed conduct detrimental to the program". What'd he do, go to class?? Hey, thank you.. please remember to tip your waitresses. Okay, all Spartan-bashing aside. This kid had achieved something that very few have.. playing for one of the truly elite collegiate basketball programs and for one of the top coaches in the nation (that hurt to type, but it's the truth). It's a shame to see a young player squander such an athletic and educational opportunity.

Wow. Trouble in paradise? MSU should've been contending for the Final Four this year. Is the Izzo empire crumbling? Sparty is ripe for the pickin' this year... hopefully the upstart younguns in Maize n Blue will realize this!
