Man behind 'Save The Big House' group still not impressed with revamped Michigan Stadium

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Ann Arbor native and longtime Michigan football fan John Pollack didn't like the idea of large concourses and suites at Michigan Stadium from the time the plan was announced.

Now that the stadium is nearly complete, Greg Dooley at MVictors.com caught up to Pollack. The results is an interesting question-and-answer session. Bottom line: Pollack remains a fan of Michigan football, but he still doesn't like the new look or the reasons behind the renovations.

So, John Pollack should just stay home and sulk about the renovated stadium on Saturdays this fall. Don't worry no one will miss you!!

Pollack invested too much energy to ever admit he was wrong, and he was wrong. I find it interesting in the article he said he was glad he was around to see the stadium in its original form. He's only 44 years old so he never came close to seeing seeing in its original form. Many, many changes have taken place over the decades. Change has been an ongoing process and the latest incarnation in the leader and best.

You can't make everyone happy I guess. Some people just can't accept change very easily. The fact is, the newly renovated stadium will offer a much better game experience for all fans. From the expanded concessions to the new restrooms, to the increased concourses, it will be much improved. The stadium was built in 1927 and the press box in the mid-50's. It badly needed a modernization to keep up with the times. The suites are perfectly fine. If putting them in helped to finance the project and kept the ticket prices from going up even more, then it was worth it. And I agree, Yost would have approved of them (from what I've read about him). So, let's all move one and enjoy having the best stadium in college football.

I was originally against the expansion for the same reason as many, tradition. But I too like the look and the improved amenities are a must! Even the oldest traditions were new at some point. Go Blue!

As someone who considers himself a football traditionalist, I like the renovations. I thin it adds a Colosseum look to the stadium and a more imposing facade from the outside. Plus, the intensified noise level inside the stadium was a much needed change. Being able to hear a pin drop when there are over 110,000 people is just wrong.
