Michigan commit Shane Morris impresses at Elite 11 quarterback camp

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Shane Morris, who verbally committed to join Michigan’s 2013 recruiting class, made an impression at the Elite 11 regional quarterback camp in Columbus, Ohio, this weekend.

ESPN national director of football recruiting Tom Luginbill called the junior-to-be at Warren De La Salle High School “one of the more impressive prospects in attendance regardless of class.”

More from Luginbill on Morris:

“What stood out about Morris was the velocity and power and the manner in which he delivered the ball. Many lefties can really have a long, drawn out delivery that is more three-quarter or sidearm, but not Morris. He had a quick stroke, was very accurate and threw as well on the run to both sides as any prospect.”

When I grow up, I want to be Shane Morris. jk. Kid has a great future. He could have a Tebow-like career here and win a Heisman or two before its all done.

You can bet that kid is going to get a lot of behind-the-scenes calls about switching his commitment. It must be hell for the coaches when they have a "fish" like this on the line and there are others trying to snatch it back. But ... if this kid's blood pulses maize and blue ... well, that's a different story. And for a kid to commit this early tells me that maybe he does bleed maize and blue.

I can't get my mind off of Devin Fuller. If Devin Fuller commited to Michigan, Shane Morris might not be an easy choice to follow Denard Robinson to the top QB spot. My personal favorite is Devin, not Gunner Kiel, or Shane Morris. But truthfully, with Morris in hand, they should probably try and fill other needs.

He is a Junior to be, not a Senior to be. Morris looks like he's going to be some kind of special player. I really don't care if we don't get a QB in this years class. I'd rather have Hoke use the scholly on another position. I'm still a big time fan of Bellomy and feel like he's going to factor in the QB position. Maybe a preferred walk-on QB would be good for depth. This position could get really crowded. Now if Gunnar Kiel wants to wear the winged helmet, that would be great. But we should be really choosy. Also, I see Morris won MVP for this event, wow, he beat out all those Seniors to be, impressive! Go Blue!!! TiM!

I'm impressed.....if he continues to improve and hone his skills, then honors his early commitment to M - his timing could be perfect for the mighty Hoke and Wolverine Football Nation.....MgoBlueForTiM !
