Michigan football game against Purdue will start at noon

By Michael Rothstein

The 2011 Michigan football schedule is taking a more definitive shape when it comes to game times.

The school announced Wednesday morning that this year's homecoming game against Purdue on Oct. 29 will kick off at noon.

It is the first non-night game that has a definitive start time on Michigan's schedule. Michigan-Notre Dame will start at 8 p.m. on Sept. 10 and Michigan-Northwestern will be at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8.

Michigan beat Purdue, 27-16, last season in a rainy game with 10 turnovers.

Bradley: That night game should be a unique atmosphere, but I too worry about the behavior and drinking. Though many colleges seem to do it with few problems, I wonder how the Michigan fans will do. Let's hope they handle themselves well. I like the afternoon games, personally.

As one of the many volunteer concession workers at the Big House let me say that I love noon games. We get out earlier and the fans haven't been drinking all day. Don't get me wrong, I support tailgaiting with a few "pops" but after doing that all day some fans can get out of hand, rude and aggressive. I can't wait for the night games when everyone has had a chance to drink for an extra 7-8 hours. We can count on at least 2 students throwing up outside of our stand at early games; the floors at the stadium should be covered in recycled beer at the night games! I still love working the games, nothing like the experience! GO BLUE!
