Michigan football leads nation in average attendance; Alum sues U-M regents
Attendance at NCAA football games was down slightly in 2009 compared to the all-time record set in the 2008 season, according to statistics released by the NCAA. But Michigan led the nation with an average crowd of 108,933 and total attendance, which was 871,464. Penn State, Ohio State and Texas also averaged better than 100,000 per game. The Big Ten finished second among conferences, trailing only the Southeastern Conference. Average attendance at Football Bowl Subdivision games was 46,281.
