Michigan football player Steve Schilling on Outland Trophy watch list

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Michigan offensive lineman Steve Schilling is one of 63 college football players on the watch list for the Outland Trophy, presented annually to the nation's best lineman.

Schilling, who has played multiple positions along the line for the Wolverines, was an honorable mention all-Big Ten player in 2009, and is one of nine Big Ten players on the 2010 watch list.

Michigan has never had a player win the Outland Trophy. The Wolverines have had four finalists: Jumbo Elliott (1987), Greg Skrepenak (1991), David Baas (2004) and Jake Long (2007). Here's the full report at mgoblue.com and here's the 63 members of the 2010 watch list.

needing a victory does not make it easier to achive. because Rodriguez "knows whats at stake" doesnt make beating Penn Iowa or Whisky any easier. so if 63 college football players were selected to be on the watch list, and theres roughly 120 D1A schools, and Assuming most schools only have one person on the list (Except OHIO who has 3), theres roughly 40% chance of a school having a player selected, what an honor. Ooh did you see, BOREN the human Twinky even made the list. Boren and Mallet are two of the best, too bad Rodriguez doesnt know how to identify or coach star tallent.

It's good to see Schilling on the list. You know there are many who are NOT on the list right? Being successful is determined by how you have been lately. Let's hope better for 2010!

Schilling stands a good chance as long as the team is successful. I clearly disagree with NoBowl4Blue.....Michigan will be the surprise of the year....RR knows he is past the hot seat although he is told he is fine. He knows whats at stake Big Blue will prove the haters wrong for sure this season. Opinions come a dime a dozen but, the truth will seal the mouths of the haters

Michigan is a successful team. Can't call them out for just two bad seasons.
