Michigan football players on Brady Hoke: 'He's a real intense coach'

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Michigan football players spoke with MGoBlue.com's Doug Karsch about their initial impressions of newly hired coach Brady Hoke after a few team meetings. See if you can pick out the theme:

Darryl Stonum: "He's a real intense coach."

Mike Martin: "He's really intense about this job."

Ryan Van Bergen: "I'm excited about getting into spring ball."

I sensed from what those four were saying that the past three years perhaps weren't as physically challenging as they believe it should have been.

I like Molk's attitude, he is wired sort of differently in a good way...the linemen will love playing for a Hokemania team.

Agree about recruiting effect. This has to be focus. The school from Ohio just picked up another 4 star linebacker yesterday. We could use at least 3 or 4 4star players right now.

I'll take intensity over Rich Rod's "Get a life" or "You raised me up..." mentality.

Hopefully Hoke can lead this team down the right path. Found this shirt the other day and this article made me think of it. http://www.whatisitthisweek.bigcartel.com/product/hoke-ain-t-no-joke-shirt

Thank you Mike Martin for handling an adverb correctly. Painful to read some of the headlines I see these days and listen to sports commentators on TV forget that adverbs even exist.

Sounds like they are working hard on recruiting now: http://www.freep.com/article/20110118/SPORTS06/110117056/1054/Brady-Hoke-goes-to-work-on-the-recruiting-trail

The problem we're having is that our staff is incomplete and that will adversely affect recruiting.

Perhaps Hoke can channel that intensity, passion and energy to the recruiting trail where nearly all of our 2011 four-star verbals have either committed elsewhere or are looking elsewhere.
