Michigan football recruit Shawn Conway catching a lot of attention

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Good thing the Michigan football team received a commitment from wide receiver Shawn Conway before others noticed the 6-foot-4, 185-pound Birmingham Seaholm standout.

Based on his recent performances, he would have attracted a lot more attention, according to The Detroit Free Press.

Scouts said that Conway jumped out in recent 7-on-7 showcases in the five weeks since he's committed to the Wolverines. Here's the link to the complete story in the Free Press.

Conway sounds like just the kind of receiver we've lacked for the last few years - A tall, outside guy who can leap up to make tough grabs. Smaller, fast slot receivers are good, but you also need taller guys who can separate and go over DB's to make long completions. Hopefully, we can hold onto him once the flood of new offers come in.

The Free Press didn't actually write this. Josh Helmholdt is the recruiting analyst for TheWolverine.com (Rivals) and The Wolverine Magazine. If you note, it says "Free Press Special Writer." He probably does these less in-depth articles for the Freep each week for a few extra bucks.

The Free Press wrote this.... wait, what? Good to see Michigan high schooler's chose Michigan Football... and hey, we need another Shawn anyway... I don't know a lot about this kid yet, only what I read in my Wolverine Magazine, but anytime I hear the words 'Scouts said',... 'I'm All In (for Michigan). Theo... I would like to send this kid some barbeque, but Michigan people do not break NCAA rules... let's keep this kid on the radar. Michigan HS's going to Michigan - great...........Free Press - good, but not letting you on the inside yet.
