By AnnArbor.com Staff

The Big Ten announced Wednesday that Michigan's homecoming game against Iowa on October 16 will kick off at 3:30 p.m.

The matchup will be broadcast nationally on ABC.

Iowa is tied for the fourth-most common homecoming opponent for Michigan. The Wolverines hold a 5-3 mark in eight previous homecoming matchups with the Hawkeyes.

The Wolverines are not at the bottom, not even close.

The Iowa game last year was the turning point in the season. That's where the coach broke with conventional wisdom and abandoned "the one that brung them". Also, you can't compare Iowa at that point in time with Iowa at the end of the season. Iowa went on to beat Penn State at Penn State and put a lot of distance between the Hawkeyes and the Wolverines. Hawkeyes are in another league - the class of the Big Ten. Wolverines are bottom of the barrel and barely competitive. Not even close.

BowlForBlue, Robbie, and Azwolverine.... that sounds like a full, fun 16 hours of Michigan Football, with a win to make us 6-3 vs Iowa on our Homecoming! It is sooooo great to be a Meeeeechigan fan tis year. @ BowlForBlue.... shame on you, you forgot to mention that with the Iowa Homecoming win, Michigan moves to 7-0, and in a January 1, BOWL GAME!!!!!!! GO BLUE!

I like this time slot because we can start our pre-victory homecoming win, over a surely ranked team at about 8:00 a.m. at the tailgating that morning, watch the Michigan win live, then get home by 8:00 p.m. and watch it on the Big Ten replay. It's like a triple-header day!

Can't compare this or even last years squade to 08, that to me does not count. And last year had a large amount of problems with the players.

They're coming to our house just like Purdue did last year...and Toledo the year before. That said, I don't think Iowa is a powerhouse and they were not as good as their 11-2 record would indicate last season. They are very strong on defense, but offensively they are erratic and Iowa has a tendency to go up and down from year to year, meaning this could be a winnable game.

And by the way, with the young, inexperienced, team with lack of depth and injury last season, we almost beat them. We lost by two to the Orange Bowl champions by two in Iowa. They're coming to OUR house this year and our team this year is leaps and bound better than last year.
